Last updated: February 7, 2026
1. Introduction
Ampcast ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Ampcast video podcast publishing platform at ampcast.fm and dashboard.ampcast.fm. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form).
Platform Credentials
To publish your content, we store encrypted API keys and OAuth tokens for third-party platforms you connect, including:
- YouTube: OAuth 2.0 tokens for video uploads, playlist management, and analytics access
- Transistor.fm: API keys for podcast episode publishing and analytics
- Spotify/Megaphone: API credentials for video podcast distribution
Content
We store video files, audio files (extracted from video), episode metadata (titles, descriptions, artwork), and show information that you upload or create through the platform.
Usage Data
We collect analytics data from connected platforms (YouTube views, Transistor downloads, Spotify plays) to display in your dashboard. We also collect basic server logs (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited) for security and operational purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the Ampcast platform
- Upload and distribute your video podcast content to connected platforms
- Extract audio from your video files for podcast distribution
- Display aggregated analytics from your connected platforms
- Communicate with you about your account and service updates
- Maintain the security and integrity of our service
4. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure
Ampcast's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, we use Google OAuth 2.0 and the YouTube Data API to:
- Upload videos to your YouTube channel on your behalf
- Manage playlists on your YouTube channel
- Retrieve analytics data (view counts) for your videos
We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not share Google user data with third parties except as necessary to operate the features described above. You can revoke Ampcast's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account permissions.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers hosted by DigitalOcean. Media files (video, audio, images) are stored on Cloudflare R2. All sensitive credentials (API keys, OAuth tokens) are encrypted at rest using Rails ActiveRecord Encryption. All connections to our service are encrypted via TLS/SSL.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Third-party platforms you connect: YouTube, Transistor, Spotify/Megaphone — only the content and metadata you choose to publish
- Infrastructure providers: DigitalOcean (hosting), Cloudflare (storage, CDN) — as necessary to operate the service
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
8. Your Rights
